Tournament of Legends brings a mythological fighter to the Wii, but the game is still very similar to other versus fighter titles.

The game seems to have been inspired by movies like 300, with a similar look and feel, right down to slow motion special attacks. Then again, considering the time period, the look and feel might be a coincidence.

Customization is a good element of the game. There are ten characters and each of them seems to be able to weld a different set of weapons. Some can carry two handed weapons but others can’t, so the wide range of weapons is limited to what the character can carry and fight with. This makes sense, as one would not be excellent with every weapon. The magical effect on those weapons can be used by every character and some will do better in combination than others. Each character does have his or her favorite and, in the single player challenge, once a character is beaten their power will be unlocked. Each combination of magic and weapon will give the character a range of special attacks, from Berserk to Clockwork missiles, Solar strike and more.

Each stage has an event that happens (sometimes more than once during a fight) that both fighters need to avoid, or they will receive damage. These, and some special moves, will require a combination of movements with the Wii remote and nunchuk. It adds a good break from just swinging the Wii remote continually.

The game is really easy, and while the fighting does get more difficult with each opponent, the fact that I was able to get all the way to the final boss with only one loss on my first attempt is a little sad. Now my skill in gaming in not a measuring stick for difficulty, but it felt like the challenge that the end boss gave would have been appreciated through all the fights. What does help is that as players fight and defeat the opponent they unlock and can use their weapons or powers in the next battle. Most of the character match ups are random until the end and players might find that using the previously obtained power is the next enemy’s weakness.

Controls in the game are either with a Wii remote and nunchuk or classic controller. As with any Wii game there are movement attacks with the Wii remote but not with the classic controller. Normally, with fighting games, I would opt for the classic control style, but with Tournament of Legends there are combinations and a feel of getting into the combat with the Wii remote. With the ease of the game, no real precision is required… that would have been the only reason to go with the classic controller.

While reviewing Tournament of Legends I found myself comparing the title to other fighters on the Playstation 3. But that’s a little like comparing apples and oranges. I’m not trying to compare the consoles, as we know that the power of the PS3 and the functionality and fun of the Wii can’t be compared. The Wii fighter needs to be compared to a Wii fighter, and there are other Wii fighters out there… and then I realised that the game did something wrong. The graphics in the title are actually very good for a Wii title, but are they necessary? Good graphics in a Wii title are not what Wii players are looking for, so we will have to turn ourselves to other aspects of the game which, while they are there, left me wanting. The game ended up being too easy and too short. I hope that this game will not be held against the developers name, as their other games are good. But, realistically, Tournament of Legends only really serves as a good second option.

At A Glance

It’s a below average fighter, even for the Wii.

At the recent E3 show, Microsoft introduced the new motion-detecting, add-on accessory for the Xbox 360 now dubbed “Kinect”. This new addition for the 360 allows games that have been developed for Kinect to detect a players movements and translate those movements into the game. Microsoft showed some fairly impressive demonstrations of playing different Kinect games that are due to come out when the new peripheral ships in November. But, like most company demonstrations of forthcoming technology, the Kinect demos were fairly scripted and run by Microsoft employees or evangelists.

One of the most intriguing features of the Kinect sensor is its ability to track more than one person at a time. This was demonstrated in the new game Kinectimals and the flagship game pack that will ship with the Kinect called Kinect Adventures (similar to the Wii Sports pack that shipped with the Wii – it is tailor made to show of the best of the technology). In both of these games, two players can interact in the game play with each other and with avatars in the game. Microsoft claims that Kinect is able to track even more players, but they don’t say what the upper limit would be. And nobody seems to have seen a working demonstration of more than two players being tracked in a game. In fact, people are beginning to questions whether many of the games that will be available when the product is launched will even be able to track two players at once.

If you’re trying to keep a lid on the high cost of playing video games, you have a few options. The best way to keep down the expense is to buy used – used video game systems as well as used video games. Finding consoles that are open box, or played lightly, is not that hard, since gmaers upgrade all the time. For example, when Sony came out with Playstation 3, there were millions of people who no longer wanted their PS2, which can be bought online or in stores for a huge discount. The same thing is true of the Xbox, which was followed bby the Xbox Elite system. Most well known probably is the Nintendo Gamecube System which was replaced by the Nintendo Wii. There was no reason to stop producing the Gamecube, other than that Nintendo wanted to sell people brand new systems – and the motion controller was a new twist. But today, there are thousands of used Gamecube systems available for less than $50, all of which still work fine, and play games that are just as much fun as newer releases.

As with consoles, there are also millions of used games available. You can see cutout bins in every store and find just about any title at a huge discount online as well. Not just older system games, like PS2 games or Gamecube games, but also games for new systems like Xbox and Wii, as players resell games they’re tired of. For games that retail at around $50, you can buy these same games for as mch as half price when you shop for used video games online.

And don’t forget that you can rent games too – there are Xbox, PS3, PS2 and Wii games for rent, as well as Gamecube games and games for handheld systems like the PSP. Some rental services like GameFly will sell you the rented game for a “used” price – which can be a big discount.

If you want to save money (and don’t need the latest XBox Kinect games) and still have an excellent gaming experience, look for used video game consoles and games to help your gaming dollar go farther.

When it comes to buying a battle strikers tournament set for our children, we are far from figuring out this hot toy is rooted in a pastime that dates 50 years back! However today’s battle strikers are made with magnetic technology, an innovative idea that kids and adults enjoy alike at playing time. Considered as the next generation of battling gaming systems, a battle strikers tournament set comes with all the necessary for two players, including two controllers and two strikers, besides the battle arena.

Modern battle strikers are customizable and there is a wide array of individual tops with different skills that can be integrated into the battle field a a later time. The basic battle strikers delivered with each set are designed only with defense and attack abilities, one of these per each top.

Best battle striker sellers can be easily found at online toy stores and recreation-related websites so it is not that hard find the right strikers for your children to play with, and understanding the game is not hard either. Battle starts by attaching a striker to the launcher and pressing the trigger on the launcher to speed up the battle. Read on the battle strikers tournament set full directions and let the fun begins.

All the battle strikers tournament tops are collectible and attach easy other easily because of their magnets attracting and sticking to one another. The battle arena included in the set box is a plastic piece with raised edges in which tops are sent off into combat.

Before these battle strikers, no other game with controllable spinning tops was available, hence the popularity of magnetic tops in the battle strikers tournament world.

The great thing about battle strikers is the way in which they are designed. Each striker consists of different parts with slight differences between each other, hence strikers can be dismantled and mixed up over and over until the player build an almighty top to beat capable to beat any opponent.

Beyond all those massive publicity campaigns in media, it is advisable read some of the reviews on best battle striker toys before actually buying a battle strikers tournament set. Alternately for an equally awesome interactive experience check out these Wii shooting games.

At the E3 conference in 2009, Microsoft’s announcement of Project Natal, an accessory that will allow you to control video games with your entire body, was definitely revolutionary. I am definitely eagerly awaiting the Project Natal release, as I know many others are. Since mid-2009, when it was announced, not much information has been released as far as specific details, but there definitely are a few things, so I will go into them.

The first one is the release date. So far there have been no specific release dates set, though they have announced that it will be released during “holiday 2010.” While this is a very vague time frame, most people are guessing that it will be in the first few weeks of November, to get it out into the market before black Friday, and still allow it to be a huge buzz over the holiday season. Other people are speculating a release earlier than that because Microsoft won’t want to be short of supply and out of stock with Project Natal once black Friday hits.

So far, there really haven’t been any announcements as far as Natal games, and what games will be available at launch. Though there have definitely been some ideas thrown around, nothing is set in stone. All of the announcement videos that showed demos of Project Natal, all featured a disclaimer saying that it is for showing how the product will work, not necessarily the exact games.

One game for sure that was mentioned, that has been kind of thrown around as a possibility was Halo: Reach. Since the Halo franchise is one of the most popular games in Xbox’s history, and the fact that Reach is coming out around the same time as Project Natal, people were excited for the possibility of a Project Natal Halo. But, Bungie, the makers of Halo, have said that Halo: Reach will not be a Natal title, but the specific phrasing used makes people think that while it will mainly use a regular controller, Halo: Reach could indeed utilize Project Natal in some way.

RPG PC games have been around in popular gaming since the 1980s. From Diablo to Mass Effect to the newest Kinect games on the horizon, these games allow you to become a mighty hero or evil villain and fight your enemies how you see fit.

The usual trait of an RPG game is the ability to create your own character and then upon gaining experience, by killing bad dudes and completing missions, craft this character to your will. Usually when you reach a new level you will be provided with the option to choose or increase new skills and will also be able to use more advanced weapons and armour.

World of Warcraft is one of the best examples of why RPG games are the greatest even if it’s not to your taste. The major thing that makes World of Warcraft one of the top RPG games for PC is the fact that it allows the player to progress in so many different ways. Buy leveling up you can choose different talent paths, learn skills, wear better equipment and make more powerful equipment. You can also spend countless hours battling it out in the PvP arena to unlock a whole other range of powerful equipment.

Most FPS and RTS games have now included popular elements that were born from RPG games. You are now able to gain experience points and level up in these games allowing you to unlock more weapons and equipment. Another example of how the progressive nature of RPGs is appealing to all players.

If you think that you might be interested in playing an RPG game I recommend trying out Fallout 3 or Oblivion. If you have a lot of time on your hands, give World of Warcraft or Everquest a go too for some online action. For an RTS with some RPG elements give Battlefield 2142 a play.

Oblivion is a great starter game on whatever platform you choose. Here is a great intro to this RPG masterpiece:

It is quite irrefutable that there are a lot of people today who perceive video games negatively. Some say that video games are so addictive that they can eat all of your time in a particular day. There are also some who would utter that video games normally cause tendencies of being violent among different kinds of people especially the youth. And there are still some who would state that video games can cause obesity to kids since they typically spend long hours sitting in front of the television playing their favorite games. All of these notions are in fact just some of the many complaints of various people regarding the halo games.

If truth be told, video games are not totally that unpleasant. As a matter of fact, such games also do entail some exceptional advantages which can certainly amaze you. For one, video games can boost your hand and eye coordination. This is basically because of the fact that when you are playing video games, your eyes tend to acquire information from the TV screen which your hands need to act upon by merely pressing the buttons in the controller. As a result, your eyes and hand work simultaneously and perfectly. Secondly, video games have the capability to keep progressive illnesses such as Alzheimer’s disease away. This is truly for real since most video games require for dexterity, quick-wittedness, and linear thinking which can definitely work out both the brain and the eyes. Furthermore, video games can also serve as a therapy because it can give you a certain sense of fulfillment for every winning game that you accomplish. Also, video games can be educational. There are in fact some educational institutions by now which tend to employ video games as supplementary materials in teaching students several academic, motor, perseverance, and socialization skills.

Indeed, video games do incorporate a number of advantages too. Most of these advantages are without a doubt outstanding and remarkable. Thus, it is just safe to conclude that video games are not that really bad unlike what most people think of in these days.
