So the kids want a new console game system this year for Christmas. The obvious choice is between the Playstation MOVE and the add-on for the XBox system called the “Kinect”. We currently have neither base system, only the Wii. I know that the quality of the games (graphics etc) will be far superior on either of the other two systems compared to the Wii, but I am leaning toward the Xbox Kinect because of the fact that you don’t need controllers and the PS3 Move just seems like a Wii setup since you do need the controllers.

The price for the bundled systems is roughly the same, and they both are starting to get a solid list of game title available, but the list of Kinect games seems to include some that would appeal to the family a bit more. Less shoot-em-up, more family fun.

There are many netbooks for sale on the market today. For which netbook sale deal will you go? In this article I will present you some of the most popular netbook choices that are on the market today.

If you want to go for a very well known brand but do not have the money for an Apple gadget you may choose to buy yourself an Asus netbook. Back in 2007 Asus produced the first ever mini laptops. Ever since then more and more companies have started to produce netbooks. Asus netbooks have evolved quite a lot from their original models. The first Asus mini netbooks were pretty small (with 7 and 9 inch diagonal screens).

Today Asus produces netbooks that have sizes between 7 and 12 inches. If you cannot read that well on a small 7 inch screen you can choose a larger netbook. 12 inch netbooks are large enough so that you have a pretty big screen but small enough to remain ultraportable. Asus now also produces touch screen netbooks. The Asus Eee PC 1000HE may be a good idea if you want a simple netbook with a long battery life (this model has a battery life of about 9 hours). If you want a touch screen netbook a good choice from Asus is the Eee PC T91. A touch screen can really be very useful in some situations.

If you want a more stylish netbook and have more money to spend you could go for one of the Sony Vaio models. Other companies also produce netbooks so you have a large variety of models from which to choose your preferred model. If you are searching for netbook deals you have chosen a great time. Black Friday and Cyber Monday are about to come. You can go get the best deals on netbooks in real retail shops on Black Friday, or you can choose to look for the best netbook for sale online deals.

This way you will also manage to save some money. I hope you will find a device that suits your needs very well. If you search for the best device carefully you will definitely end up with a great device.

A lot of computers are quite slow and would benefit from having a little bit of extra RAM in them. Adding as little as a 1 GB RAM module can make a big difference. In this article I will teach you how to do it. Even if you’ve never worked on computers before, you can install a 1 GB RAM module without too much difficulty.

It’s important that you purchase a 1 GB RAM module that matches the RAM that is currently in your computer. The best way to make sure you make the right purchasing decision is to visually inspect the RAM that is currently in the computer. The numbers will be printed on the RAM. You want to find out if you need to purchase a 1 GB RAM DDR2 or a 1 GB DDR RAM module.

After you have purchased the RAM, it’s time to install it. This should only take about 10 minutes. The first step is to unplug the computer from the wall so you don’t get shocked while working in the computer. The next step is to remove the screws that are holding the access panel in place and take the access panel off. The next step is to discharge any static charge that your body may have built up by touching a solid metal portion of your computer. Make sure that you do this before you touch any RAM modules or the motherboard or you may damage them.

Now that you’re looking at the inside of the computer, you’re ready to install the new chip. To do this, simply take it out of the package and gently press it into the slot. After that, snap the retaining clips on both ends of the RAM module. Finally, put the access panel back on and secure it with its retaining screws. That’s all there was to that. I told you it was an easy job didn’t I?

3D virtual worlds are populated by millions of Internet users. They flock to these sites to spend time in chat rooms, playing avatar games, and customizing their avatar and living spaces, releasing their creative juices. Many come to flirt and be flirted with in a safe environment. Visitors in virtual worlds often feel free to say and do things they wouldn’t do in real life. No one even knows who you really are here, so it’s okay to indulge your fantasies.

Even in a virtual world, however, etiquette plays a role. Just like in real life, you build a reputation online. Spending time in a virtual world is more fun if you are liked and accepted, not avoided or reported for bad behavior.

Etiquette in a 3D world really is similar to that you practice in real life. A little common courtesy goes a long way. Remember the following tips and you should get along fine.

Don’t be Mean

There is no reason to make nasty or belittling remarks to anyone. Remember, your virtual world is a global environment and you are part of a community made up of every race, color, and sex. Making prejudice remarks or trying to incite trouble is not only rude, it is just plain stupid.

Be Patient with Newcomers

If you have been a member of a virtual community for awhile, you may find it annoying when newbies come along and flounder around. Keep in mind, though, that every experienced player was once a beginner. No one came into this virtual society knowing everything. Help the newcomers out and practice a little patience.

No Still Means No

Even though many of the people in your virtual world may have joined to have sexy, exciting experiences, it doesn’t mean everyone wants to participate in those type activities. If you approach a person and try to establish a more intimate virtual relationship, respect the other party’s wishes. If that person does not want to move in that direction, don’t force the issue. If someone tells you they are not interested in going there, move on. There are thousands of other users who may feel differently. Try someone else.

Being a member of a virtual society is much like belonging to any other society. Common courtesy is expected and appreciated. Remember to say please and thank you, respect each other’s rights, and enjoy each other’s company. After all, you traveled to this 3D world to relax and have fun. Remembering to use a few manners will only enhance that experience.

If you enjoy watching movies or playing games at home, nothing makes that experience more satisfying than a fully functioning entertainment center. By creating a dedicated entertainment area in your living room or den, you can consolidate all your equipment and add to your viewing experience with features like surround sound, a better viewing position for your TV screen and an area that is large enough to accommodate all your DVD’s and game cartridges. Whether you already have much of the equipment, cabinets and wiring that you will need, or you are starting from scratch in a new place, there are a few components that all great entertainment centers should have.

Though is may sound counter intuitive, it is a good idea to purchase the cabinet that will house your equipment last. This way, you can ensure that you have allowed enough space to fit all the components that you need to. While it will mean holding off on setting everything up, having just the right place for everything you own will make the wait worthwhile. When you do start shopping for a cabinet, make sure that the central compartment is large enough to house your television set and all the accompanying wires. In addition, there should be a built in section for your speakers, your receiver if necessary, and enough shelf space to fit more of your gaming systems or DVD players.

Getting bluetooth speakers will help keep this area free of clutter. These speakers do not need wires to connect to your sound system, so they will not add to the unattractive, tangled mess that is often found near large entertainment areas. Not all bluetooth speakers are created equal, so make sure that you read all the available customer reviews before choosing the set in which you will be investing. Things like sound quality, life span and ease of set up are all important factors to consider when deciding which brand is right for you. Though there are no wires to plug in, installing these speakers can still be complicated. If you think that you may need help, ask your store’s representative for a referral to someone who can take care of this process for you.

A well designed entertainment system makes it easier to enjoy your electronic equipment to the fullest. By investing in high quality equipment and a designated cabinet to house it, your home will look more organized and your experience of watching your television will be enhanced.

A cheaper solution could be to buy some logitech speakers, however these are most used as computer speakers, but they do actually also provide surround speakers.

In the 2010 study of security suites, the Checkpoint Zone Alarm Internet Security 2010 was ranked in the twelfth position. Priced at forty dollars (for 3 users as on March 29th 2010), it possesses the fundamental features namely, antivirus, firewall, antispam, antiphishing as well as Internet security features. It also comes with a one year credit bureau monitoring in case of ID theft. However, it performed poorly in tests conducted for detecting latest malware threats.

The Zone Alarm Internet Security has a neat interface, best compared to others. Changing configuration is easy, but it cannot turn off JavaScript or ActiveX inside the ForceField tool which monitors malware. The virtualization feature, emulating the operating system partly makes attackers assume that they are successful, but actually they are not. The code is run separately from the PC, so that the PCs operating system is protected from attack.

Zone Alarm could detect all test samples, disabling 80% of the infections. Though the result is good, it is behind the top performers that disabled 90% or more of malware samples. A malware removal rate of thirteen percent from Zone Alarm Internet Security was the least.

The performance was good for rootkit detection as well as disinfection. It detected 87% of inactive rootkits, 100% of the active rootkits. It removed 87% of rootkits. The topper is Norton Internet Security which could detect as well as remove all rootkits including stealth malware which conceals other infections.

Zone Alarm Internet Security showed the worst software performance, in the test conducted with behavioral scanning (detecting malware based on its behavior on PC). It detected just 13% of the test samples and could block 7% of them, but unable to render total removal of any sample. This test which can efficiently judge the response for threats from brand-new malware proved Zone Alarm a problematic one.

In order to compensate this failure, Zone Alarm Internet Security uses multiple firewalls, present in the PC’s operating system kernel which makes up the indispensable parts. This prevents running of rootkits or malware. Though they weren’t tested directly, its inadequate behavioral scanning must be noted. Its customary malware detection ability, detected 97% of the samples, showing an average performance. The best one could detect 99.9% of the samples.

Zone Alarm Internet Security suite showed an overall average performance. The boot time of 52.49 seconds was 5.5 seconds slower on the average scale. It performed better in access scan test to find the speed of response for virus scanning while opening or saving files. It scanned 4.5 GB in 3minutes and 34 seconds. The topper took 2 minutes and 51 seconds.
As such Zone Alarm Internet Security cannot be recommended based on behavioral detection. An extra 10 dollars will fetch Zone Alarm Extreme Security for more protection of Internet browser sandbox running all browser applications.

The author enoys writing informative article of technology and video gaming. I keen interest these days is in the latest game console add-ons, namely the MOVE for the Playstation and the new Kinect 360. Games on both platforms look to be taking motion control to a new level. However, the Kinect games are really more intriguing because they function without the need for a motion controller.

Today via the Tanooki:

Sonic has officially taken over the fall gaming season with three games set to launch within a few short weeks of each other. Sonic’s 2D retro revival begins with Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 this October, while Sonic Colors offers Wii and DS owners a brand new 3D Sonic experience this November. But that’s not all! Sonic and pals are gearing up for their Kinect debut with Sonic Free Riders, launching November 4th.

The third game in the Riders series puts the player right in the character’s shoes using the Xbox 360 Kinect motion sensor. Players will have to navigate their rider through obstacle ridden terrain using their body to shift back on forth on their hoverboards. Gain a speed boast by pushing one leg against the ground like you would on a skateboard. In water sections, you’ll have to wave your arms frantically like you’re swimming towards the surface for air. In other words, it’s quite a workout.

I was wondering whether or not Sonic would end up on the Kinect XBox. It appears that he and his pals have been in the works for a while now. It should be interesting because the previous versions of Sonic were really bad and messy games and I hope that this has been cleaned up in the version for the Kinect. Even so, there are a number of good looking titles slated for being released at about the same time as the actual Kinect hardware (the camera and the new XBox Slim that comes with the Kinect) and chief among these are the Kinect Sports and the Kinect Adventures both of which I have seen previews of in person. They pretty good looking games. Other games for Kinect include the Dance Masters remade and The Biggest Loser.

With the recent release of the Nikon P7000 Coolpix, the competition has heated up in the advanced digital point and shoot category where to date the Canon G series has reigned supreme, specifically the Canon G11 which Nikon has clearly set their target on with the new Nikon Coolpix P7000.

Featuring the same rangefinder style as the Canon G11, with easy to use and access dial controls on top of the camera body for ISO, shutter, aperture settings and more, the new Nikon P7000 also offers a big 1.7 inch digital sensor with 10.1 megapixels for spectacular prints that look great even when printed poster sized.

The lens on any digital camera could be considered the most important feature of any digital camera and here again Nikon doesn’t disappoint . Offering high quality Nikon ED glass elenents combined with a focal length zoom ratio of 7.1x which translates to 28mm on the wide end and 200mm on the zoom or telephoto range this lens on the Nikon P7000 is much more flexible and with higher quality optics than you might find on cheaper digital cameras.

In 2010 there’s not many digital camera manufacturers that make the mistake of omitting the ability to shoot full HD video and again the Nikon P7000 offers full HD video recording a 720p. Sharing videos is easy too as all you have to do is hook up the HDMI port to your HDTV for easy connection and video sharing. Of course downloading your videos to your computer with the Nikon P7000 couldn’t be easier to do and allows for q uick and easy video sharing to popular sharing sites such as facebook and youtube

The Nikon P7000 is sure to please those looking for a digital camera that offers more setting flexibility and bigger zoom range than what can be found on most point and shoot digital cameras but still are looking for any easy to use and easy to carry digital camera as well.

It seems like every electronic device that is manufactured these days, comes with a touch screen on it. This is also true for laptop computers. Touch screen laptop computers are becoming all the rage. If you are interested in purchasing a touch screen laptop computer, you really should understand a couple of vital facts about touch screens before you make your purchase. You probably didn’t realize that there are two types of touch screens technologies that can be used on touch screen computers. The first touch screen is called a passive touch screen and the second is called a resistive touch screen.

A resistive touch screen is basically a pressure sensitive type of touch screen. Resistive touch screens are manufactured from two very thin conductive layers that carry a very small electrical charge. These two thin layers are separated by a very tiny gap of air. When the pressure is applied to a resistive touch screen with either a stylus or your finger, the screen flexes and the two conductive layers make contact with each other. Where the contact was made an electrical circuit is completed and the point at which the circuit was completed is recorded by the computer as the point at which the screen was touched.

Capacitive touch screens only recognize touch from a human finger and as a result are not quite as accurate as a resistive touch screen which is capable of recognizing the fine points from a stylus. These touch screens are made up of an insulator materials such as glass that is coated with some sort of transparent conductive coating. This coating is charged with a very small electrical current and when you touch the screen, your finger causes a small change in the capacitance of electrical current. The computer recognizes this tiny change in capacitance as the point that you touched the screen.

If you want a touch screen laptop that supports multi touch, you’re generally best off purchasing a capacitive touch screen. There have been some recent advancements in resistive touch screens that make it possible for some resistive touch screens to work properly with multi touch applications. Be sure and check the documentation thoroughly if a touch screen laptop that you are interested in purchasing is a resistive touch screen and multi touch functionality is important to you.

Many people appreciate handwriting recognition software. If you’re not familiar with handwriting recognition software let me explain it to you, this software basically makes it possible for you to write on your computer screen with a stylus and the computer will recognize your handwriting and convert it into text. If you think that you will be using your touch screen laptop in this capacity, you really should purchase a touch screen laptop that has a capacitive touch screen and an electronic stylus for the best accuracy.

A great thing about us human beings is that we easily learn through experience or through the experience of others. One of the things that we have learned is that in the world of high definition it is better to wait a little when something is introduced into the market rather than buying it quickly.

During the early years of high definition televisions Plasma HDTV sets were introduced and a lot of people paid top dollars to bring one into their home. After a year they started to notice that their expensive televisions were losing brightness very fast. After many years this type of screen was improved until it became as reliable as it is now.

The same can be said with LCD screens. When they were first introduced as high definition televisions most of them performed poorly and the picture looked plain horrible. A lot of people were attracted to them because they had a lower price tag and the they could buy a small screen which was something that they couldn’t do before when most of the HDTV sets were Plasmas. After many years LCD screens improved and became the market leaders in terms of sales overtaking Plasma and every other panel technology out there.

From these two examples we can learn one thing and it is that when it comes to high definition TV sets it is better to wait a little for new technologies to improve and mature before giving anything a try. The new hype this year is 3D TV and there are many that are already complaining that the 3D effect is not near as good as they expected. A lot of people even find that wearing glasses just to watch a movie is annoying which makes the future of 3D televisions questionable. Not to mention that a lot of people do no want to spend extra money on 3D glasses and a new Blu-Ray player to support the technology.

The best thing to do is to wait a few years to see what happens to this new hype since things are not looking as good as many would think. Only time will tell what happens in the end.
