Looking For A 20″ Laptop?

January 10, 2010

Most people have never seen a 20″ laptop. If you talk to some people that have you’ll hear them tell you how amazing they are and how they wouldn’t use anything else. Even the people that own 20 inch laptops will admit there are a few downsides however. Today we’re going to look at a few of the disadvantages as well as some of the advantages of these large, but functional laptops.

The biggest advantage is probably obvious to most and that is you have a portable computer with a 20 inch screen. That’s actually a lot larger then most people have on their home desktop computer. It gives you a lot of room to work and look at multiple windows while on the go. The keyboard on these laptops is also perfect for typing. Laptops this size don’t have to worry about shrinking the keyboard to fit into a certain area. This allows for a keyboard that’s almost the exact same size as a desktop keyboard and they are just as easy to type on.

The disadvantage are just as obvious as the advantages. While a 20″ laptop is nice, it’s big…giant in fact. Some of the heavier models can weigh in around 15 pounds which is a lot to carry around. One good option is to Google “20 laptop bag” and find a good carrying case.  You’ve also got the problem of battery life. Powering such a large screen isn’t easy and it’s reflected in the battery life.

While the 20″ laptop isn’t for everyone it definitely has it’s place in the market. The people that want or need this type of laptop will search until they find one. Because of this you don’t see much marketing for them on the TV or even the local electronics store advertisements. They are however definitely worth a look. After using one you’ll be surprise how functional they really are.
