For your Toshiba laptop you’re probably thinking you need a Toshiba Laptop Power supply right? Would you be surprised to know that’s not necessarily the case? Not only do you not need a specific brand power adapter, you can save significant money by looking at several other options.
One great option is the universal adapter which you can use as your laptop power supply. These universal adapters can be found for as little as $20. Not only are they cheap, they can power many other devices besides just your laptop. Depending on the universal adapter you purchase, they come with many tips (sometimes dozens) that can fit many mobile devices like PDA’s, DVD players, mp3 players, and most importantly your laptop. Additionally, a lot of these universal adapters come with car adapters as well, putting new meaning to the word mobile computing.
Granted some of these universal adapters do seam cheap, but they’re made that way to save us all money and are a good alternative to forking out over $100 on a Toshiba, Sony, or other major power supply direct from the factory or manufacturer.
Always consult with your owners manual to be sure you’re getting the correct wattage on your replacement laptop power supply. The best place to find the power wattage is on the back of your current power supply.
Don’t rule out refurbished power supplies either. In most cases, refurbished power adapters have been tested to make sure they’re up to par and able to be resold. Many retailers will also offer warranties with refurbished products so don’t be afraid to consider a refurbished or used power adapter. Many large companies, as they appreciate their equipment, resale their laptop accessories to online retailers or local computer shops. This is where you can get great prices on refurbished notebook accessories. Knowing where to look and being willing to purchased something refurbished can save you a lot of money on your laptop power supply replacement.
